Finding Your People
Oregon is finally starting to feel like home.
After over 25 years of being a Texas girl, starting my own love story, and photographing countless weddings, the scene has all of a sudden shifted to mountains and waterfalls and silly little events every weekend. The air here hums with a kind of magic– a slower, more deliberate rhythm that's just what my soul craves. Not to get too sappy, but now my days are filled with the scent of roses from my backyard, gentle showers of rain, and the endless seas of green that make me feel like I’m living inside a watercolor painting.
After two months of settling in, I think I’ve finally unpacked enough to call this place home. The cameras are all out of their bags, the gaming PC is set up, and I feel like I have time to actually sit down and read– currently swapping between authors Jeneva Rose and Abby Jimenez. I can check off the most touristy things off of my list; A trip to Powell’s Books, Multnomah Falls, and Cannon Beach. And for those moments when I need to escape into a realm of pure fantasy, I've happily picked back up my Baldur's Gate 3 campaign.
But beyond the cozy moments inside and the stunning scenery from just beyond, what I'm truly seeking in this whimsical new chapter are my people. Because as every wedding I've photographed has shown me, finding your people, your chosen family, is just as magical as finding your person. Oregon has been so good to me so far. I believe this tribe is right around the corner.
Here’s to trying finding my people in Oregon and not just escaping to the fantasy worlds in my living room!
